“Great bag for overnight business travel (ladies and gents)!” Yes, Ladies and Gents, you can travel overnight for business using this backpack!
I’ve seen reviews where men say they can travel overnight, but sometimes women need more “stuff” when they travel, so I am giving this review from the standpoint of a woman traveler.
I travel frequently and give presentations at conferences. This means I need “work clothes”, something to sleep in, makeup, and street clothes. I also need a laptop, possibly a tablet, chargers, and what not. This backpack is great for all these stuff!

“Holds a lot!” – I am very impressed with this bag, thus far. I have only had it about a week, so we will see how it holds up to the weight of textbooks over time. It has excellent padding on the handle, straps, and on the back of the bag. I was concerned that it would not expand to fit my books and folders, but it has not disappointed! Once I stuffed all of my gear into it, it expanded to about 8” wide. The front compartment has odds & ends in it. The middle compartment has two 3 ring binders and a LARGE textbook in it. The back compartment has my iPad, several notebooks, and a wad of pens in it. Pics of all 3 compartments included. This bag holds A LOT!
“Perfect travel backpack!”After a long search for the perfect travel backpack for my husband I decided to give this one a try. All I can say is WOW! It has plenty of pockets and will hold a weeks worth of clothes and a pair of flip flops with no problem. He has officially ditched his roller bag. Good Buy!
“Life Changing! I now understand why women love their purses!” – Life changing! I used to use a typical gym bag and bump into everyone on the bus/metro. Now with the backpack I can easily fit and also, great handle if I need to take it off and place it on the ground. Fantastic quality, strong zippers, more pockets than I will probably use. Love the little spot for your cell phone! Best backpack I have ever owned!
“Compartments galore!!!” This back pack has THE most compartments of any bag I have seen. I fly weekly and this is amazing. Very well built, and thought through thoroughly went built. Very good price. I will never go back to any type of briefcase.
“Great bag for those who know how to travel lite.” – Just purchased this bag for a trip to Europe. I also bought the ebag weekender to see which one I liked better. They are both well made, strong zippers, with good back and shoulder padding. They are very comparable but this bag is $20 less expensive. I wanted a bag that I can carry on to save the cost of baggage fees, and this one will fit easily in an overhead bin. I did a practice pack and it seems to have more than enough room for a 3 week trip as long as you pack smart. (It might be a bit tight if you were packing lots of sweaters, or heavy jeans.).
“It’s good for the money, so far.” – So far so good, will update as I use it, here’s some bullet points to consider:
*It’s lightweight & feels good on my back but I am tall & feel that the hip straps are more belly straps, they don’t sit comfortably.
*I got purple, it’s a pretty good mix between dark purple but would consider it eggplant.
*There are not as many pockets as I had hoped nor is there a place to hang an ID card so I made one (see pictures).
*There was no hole for the headphones to go through, I had to score my own with a razor blade & where exactly am I putting my music device once the headphones are through the hole & on my ear?
*I hope that the bottom does not wear out quickly, it does not seem to be very reinforced.
*For the money, I am pleased at the moment.
“Love it!” – Lightweight, easy to pack, side pockets perfect for big bottles of water, shoulder straps are comfortable. At first when you open it, it looks small but once you start putting stuff in it you realize how big it really is. I am planning to order one for me too 😉
“Good value, but bottle pockets too loose.” -Two weeks along and it seems sturdy and lightweight, with well functioning zippers. Plenty of accessory places to tuck little things into, and I like the quick-release fob for my car key. I’m a little unimpressed with the bottle pockets, which I wish were lust a bit more snug. (On day one I lost my two canteens, which cascaded noisily onto the concrete below. Luckily, unbreakable. But ding one star.)
“Awesome backpack the last 10 years” – I got this backpack 10 years ago with a laptop back then. I have used it everyday through schools and what-not. These last few months, the shoulder strap padding (One of them and not so much the other) has finally gone flat enough for me to wish it were more comfortable. The shock absorbing part of the straps has also about given way. And the rubber on the handle has broken apart but doesn’t make much of a difference and I don’t care about that And they have since redesigned it. Can’t really blame it though as I have not babied it. I carry a 6+lb laptop 17×1.5″ (and large for a 17″), large binder, engineering books, an old graphing calculator and a smaller one, Lots of pens and rulers (including a 15″ ruler in the 3rd main pocket) headphones, Leatherman, flashlight, etc., etc., you get it.
“Great value hipster backpack.” – Really one of my favorite purchases, it’s a great value. I’ve taken it camping, and while I wouldn’t recommend it for serious hiking, it’s a great-looking and functional casual backpack.
I love the straps all over this thing, you can grab it from any angle. Seems to be very good quality, have used it a few months with no issues. I think it looks great too, with just a simple leather panel and rolled-up rain cover on top. The front pocket is a little difficult to access, the zippers are weirdly attached.
“High quality, Convenient backpack.” – I have been using SwissGear backpacks for more than 2 years. Bought this one for my brother. He was very happy to see it and says it’s very light and feels high quality. So many pockets help organize things properly and an open packet on the side for water bottle helps a lot. A separate compartment for Laptop keeps it safe from any scratch and easy to put the laptop quickly and take it out. Haven’t used the smart Scan feature at the airport. Will try some time to actually see if TSA allows the laptop to be in the bag. If you are looking for a branded, high quality bag for daily use, thus bag is the best value for money.
“I really wanted to love this bag..” – I really wanted to love this bag. We were making a trip to Ireland and I was looking for a new bag to use for carry on. I found this bag and fell in love with the way it looked. I ordered it even after reading the semi mixed reviews and when it arrived I was very happy! It has so much room, plenty of pockets, well thought out and was in guidelines for international travel. The different carrying options were amazing and the straps to “skinny up” the bag on are a GREAT touch.. I am sitting in the Philadelphia airport right now on a layover and decided to write this and post pictures of my issues. I didn’t go back packing and I take care of my things extremely well.
“Great Backpack!!” – After an exhaustive search of backpacks online and in-stores, I ended up buying this one for school. It looks a bit bulkier than expected-but I’m not complaining. For those of you wondering about how the backpack will look like on you and need a reference on height, I am 5’5″.
This backpack has no problem fitting in my 17″ MacBook Pro (including its Vera Bradley Case) in the laptop compartment. On days I don’t bring my laptop, I store a 1 inch binder in the laptop compartment. It also has an additional pouch across from the compartment for storing a tablet in which I use to store 3 or 4 regular sized folders.
The main compartment of the of the bag can be used to store up to at least 4 binders and a textbook.
