The huge and bustling capital of India with Jaipur and Agra make the famous Golden Triangle. One of the most long-lasting travel destinations in the world. At first touch, Delhi can exhaust you with the suffocating mix of people, sounds, activities. But if you overcome the first shock and scratch under the surface, you will discover the heart of India beating: amazing monuments in the most unexpected corners, magnificent museums, gardens everywhere, a very lively artistic scene. Last but not least, Delhi is the joy of gastro-blogger, you can get amazing food at the most unexpected places (and yes, if you are an experienced traveller, you dare to eat outside the hotel).

As in many historic cities, there is a distinct Old Town. You can spend half a day in the noisy, dusty yet super-charming Old Delhi and enjoy your drink in one of the aristocratic bars of New Delhi in the afternoon. Surrounded by remnants of the ancient walls, Old Delhi has everywhere the signs of Mughal aesthetics: the emperors of the dynasty were descendants of Timuris and Jenkis Han. This means that Islamic influences are intense in every cultural expression. Here you will meet some of the “archetypal” images you inevitably have in your mind about India. Medieval bazaars, mega-architectural jewelery, mosques, temples and sanctuaries form a dense urban fabric that has aptly been described as the “microcosm of India”.

New Delhi has also another face. The new city, designed by the leading architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker on the map: the foundation stone was only in 1911 by the then royal couple in England. From the Connaught Place shopping center to Imperial architecture buildings and the Gate of India, New Delhi gives the image of a dynamic city that knows how to flirt with both tradition and high tech. A tourist but sufficient way to discover the city is to take the HoHO bus, which takes a 65 km cycle to Old and New Delhi, with stops at all the monuments.
