Morocco’s most popular city, every year attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists who swarm the city to live their own fairy tale. The city is haunting you with its colorful bazaars, sweeping you with its perfumes and eventually making you feel king in its palaces.
It is built in the shade of the almost always snowy Atlas mountain range, near a forest of boulders. The red walls that surround the city and its reddish buildings gave the name “Red City”.
The city never sleeps and moves almost constantly. A passage of caravans in the past, is literally a center of transit and departure today. In addition to the locals who visit the big market, the city has a strong charm for Europeans who have bought homes in the old city in recent years and have transformed them into permanent residences, boutique hotels, galleries and restaurants.
The heart of the city strikes at Jama El Fna Square. Morning, noon and evening. In the morning you will see snakes of snares risking their lives, vendors telling their stuff and artists to expose their art. At night, real fun begins, with the square changing into a huge outdoor restaurant as itinerant cooks prepare local delicacies such as grilled fish, meats, lamb heads and cooked snails.
The Islamic community of Marrakech is one of the most liberal in the Middle East, so tourists can move there with more freedom than any other Islamic country.
This exotic city does not only satisfy all the senses to the superlative degree but also fills the imagination until the next holidays.
